Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the development and delivery of communication-related training programs for staff to enhance their communication skills and ensure a cohesive communication strategy.
  2. Collect feedback from various stakeholders to gauge the effectiveness of communication strategies and make recommendations for improvement.
  3. Assist in developing strategies for effective communication during times of crisis or when addressing public concerns.
  4. Conduct research to understand public perceptions, trends, and areas for improvement in communicating IP concepts to the public.
  5. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the IP office’s brand identity, ensuring consistency in messaging and visuals.
  6. Keep track of media coverage related to IP and prepare regular reports on the office’s visibility in the media.
  7. Address inquiries from the public, media, and stakeholders regarding IP matters, providing accurate and clear information.
  8. Facilitate internal communication within the office, ensuring that relevant information is effectively shared among team members. This may involve creating internal newsletters, updates, or communication materials.
  9. Create visually appealing and effective graphic designs for print and digital media. Assist in producing multimedia content such as videos and animations to convey key IP messages.
  10. Support the planning and execution of events, seminars, workshops, and awareness campaigns related to intellectual property. This includes coordinating logistics, preparing promotional materials, and ensuring effective communication.
  11. Assist in building and maintaining positive relationships with the media, stakeholders, and the public to enhance the office’s reputation and promote a positive image.
  12. Manage and update the IP office’s social media accounts, creating and sharing content to enhance public engagement and disseminate relevant information.
  13. Develop engaging and informative content for various platforms, including the official website, social media, newsletters, and press releases, to promote awareness of intellectual property rights.
  14. Editing and proofreading public relations content.
  15. Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Registrations Officer.

 

Key Outputs

The position is responsible for promoting awareness about Intellectual property (IP) and in particular the popularization of the National Intellectual Property Policy 2019 in an effective and professional manner. It requires the incumbent to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams to implement practices and procedures for IP protection. The incumbent is also required to work closely with key stakeholders in the IP value chain responsible for implementation of the various aspects of the National Intellectual Policy 2019.

 

Qualification and Experience

  1. An Honors Degree in Mass Communication or Social Sciences.
  2. A graduate of a recognized University in Uganda having graduated not earlier than January 2021.

  3. Negotiation skills.
  4. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
  5. Excellent Communication and people skills.

  8. Proficiency in the use of audiovisual equipment
