Project Support Officer-Bio chemistry(Intellectual Property (IP)) – 1 Position(s)

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Ensure IP awareness creation amongst all stakeholders and participate in awareness engagements relating to the different aspects of IP.
  2. Develop and implement strategies to popularize the National Intellectual Policy 2019.
  3. Conduct research and prepare reports and policy briefs on IP.
  4. Facilitate protection of the different forms of IP.
  5. Plan and implement projects regarding IP.
  6. Participate in research on the different aspects of IP.
  7. Receives and processes applications for the different forms of IP.
  8. Captures data of different forms of IP in the Industrial Property Administration System (IPAS).
  9. Process and or register IP licenses as necessary.
  10. Provide advice and make representations on the different aspects of IP.
  11. Provides technical advice to public on the general aspects of IP.
  12. Ensures correctness of data on both the physical and electronic register.
  13. Maintains accurate statistics relating to the different forms of IP.
  14. Collect non-tax revenue.
  15. Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisors.

Key Outputs

The position is responsible for promoting awareness about Intellectual property (IP) and in particular the popularization of the National Intellectual Property Policy 2019 in an effective and professional manner. It requires the incumbent to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams to implement practices and procedures for IP protection. The incumbent is also required to work closely with key stakeholders in the IP value chain responsible for implementation of different aspects of the National Intellectual Policy 2019.

Qualification and Experience

  1. An Honors degree in biochemistry or other related technical discipline.
  2. A graduate of a recognized University in Uganda having graduated not earlier than January 2021.

Personal Specification

  1. Knowledge on the various aspects of IP is an added advantage.
  2. Good interpersonal, analytical and communication skills.
  3. Ability to liaise and network with other Government departments.
  4. Excellent research abilities and a willingness to grow.
  5. A positive attitude and a growth mindset.
  6. Ability to work in diverse team settings.
