Job Description

Our client, Tunga Nutrition Uganda Limited is a joint venture business of Nutreco BV and Unga Group Plc. Established in March 2022, the business distributes animal nutritional products from the parent
companies and is currently building a state-of-the-art animal feed and concentrate production facility at Plot M229, factory close in the Ntinda Industrial area of Kampala, that is due to start operations in
Quarter 3 of 2023. The feed production facility will be tapping into local input supply chains to produce the famous Hendrix brand of concentrates and animal feed.
Tunga Nutrition is recruiting staff to strengthen its operations and if you would like to be part of this exciting new venture, below are the positions we are seeking to fill:

Maintenance Manager

Job Purpose
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, efficient and sustainable assets condition to allow production and business supply.

Key Accountabilities (not limited to):
• Plans, prioritises, schedules, and manages all maintenance activities, planned maintenance programmes, shut-downs, or emergency repairs to rectify break-downs and malfunctions and minimise business disruptions.
• Manages all technical maintenance and repair work to be performed by the employees of the maintenance department, plans the work, providing assignments and tasks, and arranging the activities.
• Troubleshoots any mechanical, electrical and technical control of production equipment, utility equipment, and refrigerating systems and in offi ces and warehouses,
• Prepares preventive maintenance schedules and carries out inspections in the context of preventive and corrective maintenance / overhaul, so that the technical underperforming conditions are timely identifi ed and corrective actions can be taken
• Researches, evaluates, and recommends new equipment, tools and processes in maintenance and production in order to enhance the capabilities of production and / or maintenance.
• Roll out best practices of Maintenance (TPM, AM, PM, …)
• Ensures compliance with all operating, safety, quality, risk and health regulations.

Required Academic Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential
• Advanced Technical qualification, Minimum – Diploma – Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 5 years experience working in Engineering role within manufacturing organisation
• Experience of managing a small team
• Demonstrable problem solving skills
• Thorough knowledge of regulations concerning all relevant regulations
• Solution oriented and pragmatic
• Ability to communicate at all levels

Preferable
• Lean/Operational Excellence experience
