Job Description

The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is a limited liability company incorporated in Uganda, under the Companies Act. UEDCL owns ALL the 33kV and below voltage electricity distribution networks in addition to the operational assets associated with the business currently leased to Umeme Ltd. Thus, the company monitors Umeme Ltd investment, distributes power in nine (9) service territories covering over 74 political districts in Uganda. UEDCL also operates the GoU pole treatment plant in Lugogo industrial area and also executes rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD). The Company is seeking to recruit qualified, competent, and highly motivated Ugandans for the following positions:

1. Job Title: Call Centre Agents

Number of positions: 5

Reports to: Customer Service Manager

Duty Station: Kampala

Purpose of the job: To manage the call centre system by coordinating Field work orders to keep electricity on and offer timely responses to customers and stakeholders for Revenue generation. Primary role is receiving calls and providing professional, courteous and accurate information to UEDCL customers by utilizing excellent, in-depth knowledge of company products and programs as well as logging all customer’s complaints using the appropriate tools/systems provided for subsequent follow up.

Key Result Areas: pick and answer customer calls promptly, ensure clear communications are passed to the customers over electricity availability, gather Customer Complaints by categories, follow-ups on complaint resolution with the respective department or area, make sure the call centre performance satisfies the customers’ expectations, and any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, desired skills, attributes & experience: Bachelor’s degree in business related courses from formally recognized institutions. Knowledge of Customer care, Customer Management System, MS excel, Ms word and outlook, must have at least 1 – 2 years’ relevant experience in a busy organization. Pursuing a professional course will be added advantage.

Additional requirements: High degree of integrity and team player, good level of interpersonal initiative and self-drive, good communication skills, should be able to beat deadlines with the ability to work under pressure.
