Job Description

The Secretary, Public Service Commission would like to inform the General Public that:
1. New Posts from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and Office of the President have been added as Addendum to PSC External Advert (GRE) No. 1 of 2023 that appeared in the New Vision Newspaper of Monday 20th February, 2023 with a closing date of 13th March, 2023.

2. The closing date for the initial advert will now be Monday 20th March, 2023.

Applicants are free to apply for a maximum of two positions.

ADDENDUM TO PSC EXTERNAL ADVERT (GRE) NO. 1 OF 2023
POST: STATE ATTORNEY (100 VACANCIES)
REF: HRM 147/286/01
SALARY: UGANDA GOVERNMENT SCALE U4
AGE: 21 YEARS AND ABOVE

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND WORKING EXPERIENCE
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized University/Institution plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre.

DUTIES:
The Incumbent will be responsible to the Senior State Attorney for performing the following duties:
– Advising and guiding the police during criminal investigations;
– Perusing police files in criminal cases triable in the High Court and serious criminal cases triable in the Magistrate’s Courts;
– Prosecuting criminal cases and appealing in the Magistrate’s Courts and High Court;
– Conducting Legal Research;
– Participating in documenting, profiling and creating databases on criminal cases;
– Handling public complaints;
– Participating in providing the necessary support and assisting to ensure the
protection of the rights of victims of crime and witnesses;
– Participating in handling public complaints regarding the conduct of prosecutors
and handling of criminal cases within the District;
– Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
